To graph an inequality, you must use the formula y=mx+b. "m" represents the slope and "b" represents the y-intercept. The first step is to plot the y-intercept. Then, from that point, you plot more points. This is where the slope comes in. The slope is always a fraction. From the y-intercept you go either up or down for the value of the number in the numerator and either left or right for the value of the denominator. Then, depending on the inequality symbol, you connect them with either a solid or a dashed line. Then you have to shade above or below the line. You shade above the line if the symbol is greater than or greater than or equal to. You shade below if the symbol is less than or less than or equal to. All of the shaded portion are possible solutions to the inequality.
