In P.E. we are doing court hockey. it is very fun and challenging. We are learning strategies, safety rules, an the imortance of things like communication, cooperation, and assigning jobs. We walk over to St. Anthony's to play since our court is limited.
The last time I took the push-up test, I did 9 push-ups. So this time I am going to try for 10!!!!!!!!!!!!! The push-up test is tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!!!!
Since today was a bad air day, Mr. Walsh gives us a surprise... A FITNESS TEST!!!! Without anyarning, we do the curl-ups, trunk lift and the sit and reach test. I did 32 curl-ups, got a 12 on the trunkl lift, and sat and reached 10 for both legs. We haven't done the push-up test yet.
We have just started our lacrosse unit in P.E. We took notes on the game, history, equipment, field, and rules. Then we started practicing the technique for catching and throwing the ball using the crosse, which is the net connected to a pole that is used in lacrosse. It is pretty fun so far and I can't wait to start playing games.
The most recent activity we did was crab-soccer because of the bad-air day on Friday. It was very fun. Mr. Walsh split us up into 6 teams. Then he explained the rules, the boundaries and rules for the audience. We played 4 rounds, and every team played once in a round. We got a total of 5 points, earned from wins, losses, and ties. The highest amount of points was 7 points. i hope we play again soon.
Badminton!!! Hooray!!! In P.E., we are beginning our badminton unit. We started by taking notes on badminton. We learned about the history of the game. We learned about the equipment and the court, and the basic rules. Then we took notes on how to score points and badminton lingo and what the words mean. the next thing I knew we were outside and Mr. Walsh was teaching us how to serve. To serve, you must hold the birdie by the feathers and both the bird and the racquet below the waist. Then you drop the bird and hit it with the racquet and follow through to your shoulder.
In P.E. we are doing the State Fitness Test. On the curl-up test, I got 63. For trunk lift, I got 12 inches. And on the push-up test, I did 9 push-ups! We have been practicing for the push-up and curl-up test for a few weeks. We would practice by rolling 3 dice and whatever the total was, that's how many curl-ups we'd do. For the push-ups, we would roll 2 dice and whatever the total was we would add two and do that many push-ups.
In P.E. we are doing a team competition. We're doing this because Mr.Walsh wants us to learn communication, cooperation, teamwork, strategies, and distributing jobs. My team name is the Purple Panthers. In the Competition, we have to complete a challenge as fast as we can. Whoever finishes first gets the most points, and whoever finishes last gets the least amount of points. The last challenge we did was capture the flag. We had to team up with all the other teams one time. The other teams names are Blue Jaguars, Wild Slayers, and Wild Cats. so far, the Blue Jaguars are winning. =(
